The City of Port Moody has added a detailed and strongly worded letter to the Village of Anmore to their upcoming meeting for approval outlining a wide range of critical concerns about the proposed Anmore South Official Community Plan (OCP) Amendment. The letter, dated May 27, 2025, remains in draft until it is passed. The contents reflect deep unease over the lack of regional coordination, infrastructure planning, and environmental safeguards associated with the project, which proposes a dramatic tripling of Anmore’s population through a high-density urban development.
Among the issues raised are:
Lack of consultation on water, sewer, and transportation infrastructure that would run through Port Moody
Significant environmental risks to Bert Flinn Park, Schoolhouse Creek, and surrounding ecosystems
Underestimated transportation impacts on Ioco Road and a regional transit network that cannot support the proposed scale
Unaddressed climate and emissions consequences that conflict with Metro Vancouver and Port Moody targets
Concerns over recreational and emergency service burdens that Anmore’s small footprint cannot support on its own
This letter serves as a formal request for accountability and collaboration before the Village proceeds further with its OCP amendment. It underscores the regional implications of the project and signals that Anmore’s neighbours are not prepared to quietly absorb the consequences of unilateral planning decisions.
Read the full letter below to understand the scope of Port Moody’s objections and why regional voices must be part of any path forward for Anmore South.
